Psalms 103:12 NIV
12. as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
Isaiah 41:13 ESV
For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
Sunday afternoon, already 42 shootings this weekend in Chicago, still many hours left in the weekend for the reign of violence to ratchet up more scores. It’s a beautiful sunny Sunday, my daughter and her family are down at the lakefront watching the annual Chicago Air and Water Show. Peaceful, safe, fun.
How can there be such a wide spread in fortune that we allow to happen? Where’s the outrage that actually accomplishes something other than moving political power lines? Where’s the outrage at a broken society and the system that created it? This is not God’s plan.
Christ calls us to serve, to give, to make a difference in His glory. He removes our transgressions through his sacrifice, he expects us to do the same with our lives. Lives of service. Lives of sense. Lives of giving hands up, not patronizing handouts for political power.
Fear not, He tells us, I am here, holding your hand, helping you. I Am.
Luke 2:46 (NIV)
46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
Asking questions, challenging the status quo. It’s time for some outrage at the system we’ve allowed to be created. Here in Chicago. Here in everywhere.
Revelation 3:21 (NLT)
21 Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.
the lord is my saviour i love him with all my heart
