Matthew 24:42-44
“42 Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
Some people don’t understand why I say that if God wanted to take me right now I’d be really happy. Take me out of this world and get me to heaven. Who would rather be here than in heaven? Well, it seems there are a lot of people that aren’t ready to go, that don’t want to leave this world right now. I wonder – why?
The eternal perspective. Living this life for the next one. So keep watch because you don’t know on what day the Lord will come. What do we have to do to prepare for his coming? All that we can, whenever we can. To live our life for Christ, intentionally, purposefully, driven to do His will, driven to seek Him, driven to know Him, driven to make Him the most important focus of our life, driven to move closer and closer to Him. To be available to let Him do his work through us first and foremost.
Are you ready to go? Are you ready to for Christ to return? I like this question: If Christ knocked on your door, what would you do? Would you ask for more time to get it right? If that’s your request, it’s time to revisit your commitment to Him. The sheep and the goats will be separated (Matthew 25:31-46 – one of my two life verses, the other being Micah 6:8). It’s real, it’s important, it’s real important.
The Son of Man will come at an hour when you least expect him.
There’s plenty to do, no time to waste, no tomorrow to start. Live today in Christ, for Christ, as if it’s the last day before He returns. And do the same thing tomorrow until He calls you/us home.
