Mark 8:29 John 7:38

“I am who I am” Popeye

Mark 8:29
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”

John 7:38
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

Who do you think I am? Whoever believes in Christ. Living waters.

Who is Jesus? Is he who he says he is or some lunatic? What does it mean to believe? Is it “yeah, Jesus was a great man” or “showed us a great way to live”? Or is it “he’s God” “he’s my savior”? Both views describe belief, but one is a diluted version the lord of the earth would have us believe, the second is what Jesus tells us he is. Where do you fall, what does your belief look like? Is Christ who he says he is or a lunatic? (see C. S. Lewis for original quote) How big is your God?

The promise is of living waters, of a “fountain of living, plentiful, constantly (flowing), miraculous gifts we don’t expect – from the Holy Spirit” (paraphrased from Matthew Henry Concise Commentary). Does that describe your experience? The promises are true. Are they in your life? Do you believe, truly believe? The living waters, the joy of life, the Holy Spirit, it’s bigger than the daily problems of life, bigger than the pain of the world. These living waters radically change your perspective and make room for the joy and peace God wants us to have while he uses us in His battle against the ways of the world.

Could it be like spiritual spinach? Pop a never ending can, join the revolution, believe, be filled with the never ending living waters. The promise isn’t to good to be true, it’s a manifestation of love that God has for us.

Live boldly today saturated in His promise, in His truth.
