1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 John 11:25 Kick the tires, check it out, test everything

1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 (NIV)
“16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.”
John 11:26 (MSG)
“And everyone who lives believing in me does not ultimately die at all. Do you believe this?”

That’s one bold claim – you’ll never die. Yet, He challenges us to test everything. Rejoice, give thanks, stay away from evil. Should be pretty simple. But, like everybody else in life, it depends where you set the bar. If you set it at Jersey Shore level, that’s one thing. If you set it at God level, that’s another.

Kick the tires, check it out, test everything. Christ holds up under scrutiny of you really apply critical reasoning to His life, if you really test it. Most won’t take the time which is too bad because there are consequences to that decision.

Kick the tires, check it out, test everything. There’s nothing to lose in this world, everything to gain in the next, not to mention the hope, love, joy, peace, gratitude, and attitude that comes from following Him.

Kick the tires, check it out, test everything.

Deuteronomy 9:4
“But when God pushes them out ahead of you, don’t start thinking to yourselves, “It’s because of all the good I’ve done that God has brought me in here to dispossess these nations.” Actually it’s because of all the evil these nations have done.”
Matthew 11:20, 24
“20 Then he began to denounce the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent.”
“24 But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you”
