John 4:23-24
“23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Matthew 13:41-43
“41 The Son of man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all evildoers, 42 and throw them into the furnace of fire; there men will weep and gnash their teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.”
Deuteronomy 10:16
“16 So cut away the thick calluses from your heart and stop being so willfully hardheaded. 17 God, your God, is the God of all gods, he’s the Master of all masters, a God immense and powerful and awesome. 18 He doesn’t play favorites, takes no bribes, makes sure orphans and widows are treated fairly, takes loving care of foreigners by seeing that they get food and clothing.”
I don’t know much about ostriches (some would say ‘or anything else’). I have this mental image of an ostrich with its head buried in the sand and a predator walking up an feasting while the ostrich is wondering wha’ happened – it wasn’t supposed to work like this!
I’m not a Bible scholar, so this might be leading people astray – someone please correct me if I’m wrong – and I have a question: If our soul and spirit are the same, is the Holy Spirit God’s soul? If it is, we have God’s soul pouring into us if we want it. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. Spirit and truth. An honest soul.
I think this is where so many people run into trouble: it’s easy to talk a good game, much harder to do it. How much does He want of us? It’s easier to say He doesn’t exist and ignore Him than it is to do what He calls us to.
The orphans and widows are treated fairly by God, but not by us, and we blame God because we’re the ones who are supposed to be doing His work here on earth and we’re not so it’s His fault.
It’s comfortable to deny Christ is who he says He is, until the day comes when it’s impossible to deny it and it becomes REALLY uncomfortable.
Take some time and read the words. Take some time to consider the claims hold the ultimate truth. Read it with a new mind, connect with His soul, seek the truth.
An ostrich thinks it’s safe until it realizes it isn’t.
