Grownups and children 1 Corinthians 13:10-12 Matthew 19:13-14

1 Corinthians 13:10-12 (NIV)
“10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”
Matthew 19:13-14 (NIV)
The Little Children and Jesus
“13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. 14 Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’”

Conflicting messages? You don’t know until you grow up, but the kingdom belongs to those who haven’t? No, not like that.

The Kingdom is for those who believe, who sell out to/for Christ, who give up their self to follow the Lord, Christ. He’s a powerful God, a loving God, an amazing God, a perfect God. Something we can’t get our heads around yet – we look in a mirror and see a reflection of what we know, but soon, we’ll see it face to face, well know the truth.

Children believe what their parents tell them without doubting. Then we begin to grow up and get jaded as the truth doesn’t always match the words. We form worldviews based on our experiences. We look in the mirror and know what we know. We don’t understand God’s ways, so we think they are lies too, and make that part of our worldview. We stand looking in the mirror knowing what we know, but soon we’ll know something different. Soon we’ll know the truth.

Our ways are not Gods ways. What we call deformed He probably sees as perfect in light of eternity. Someday, we’ll stand face to face with Him and we’ll see what the truth really is.

Study like an adult, responsibly, passionately, like you would for anything else you’d really want to go for. Like a child, ask Christ to come into your life, the Holy Spirit to come into your soul.

When the mirror is no more and we stand face to face, we shall know fully.
