Ecclesiastes 7:9 (ESV)
9 Be not quick in your spirit to become angry, for anger lodges in the heart of fools.
How do you all feel about “Anti’s”? Anti’s are against everything and for nothing. Anti’s are, in my experience, based purely on emotion and very little reason. Comfort puppies, coloring books and crayons after a presidential election are examples. So are the riots and protests after the election. What were those about? Were they for anything or against something? Ask for sound reasoning and you’ll be baffled. Ask for emotional reasoning and you’ll be wowed. One thing about the Anti’s is they always come up with cute chants to go along with the violence.
Why mention it? Anger lodges in the heart of the fool. There is no forgiveness in the heart of the fool because anger has lodged itself there. Forgiveness and anger cannot peacefully coexist, and only one of them can be true at the same time.
We are capable of forgiveness. It’s not easy. Sometimes it seems impossible. Yet, all is possible when we look at what Christ did for us. He has shown us the way to Him. He has shown us the way forward through forgiveness. He has set the tone and tempo for how we are to navigate through this life. It’s a message that is being drowned out by the noise, so I raise a noise for him. Am I anti-Anti? Hmmm – yeah. I need to work on my forgiveness.
10 For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,”says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Forgiveness drives out hate. Forgiveness drives out bitterness. Forgiveness begets healing. Forgiveness brings peace. Hate does the opposite. When it comes to your life, how much of you is an Anti? If you’re not sure, take a look at your forgiveness level.
