Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV)
19. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20. but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
What kind of treasures? What are we putting ourselves to? Where are we putting our efforts? What are we trying to accumulate? Why would anything that we can’t touch now be better than something we’ll get in the future?
Luke 11:13 (ESV)
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
Hmm, I wonder how much more God has in store for us. If we love like we do as broken as we are, what kind of awesome treasures await us when God gets to giving in heaven? He’s given us so much here that even in our brokenness we see it.
The eternal perspective changes everything.
