1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT)
7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
I guess we’ve kinda lost this concept if you think about it.
Love never gives up. Never.
Love never loses faith. Never.
Love is always hopeful. Always.
Love endures through every circumstance. Every.
Love doesn’t quit. If we quit, where’s the love at? If we quit, do we really know love? The world is full of quit.
It also takes more than one to love. One who loves with one who doesn’t is abuse – I know this from my experience being once married to someone who was not right in the head and wasn’t going to do anything about it. Alfred Hitchcock titled a movie after her. There are people like that. They are hard to love.
I’m under no illusion about love. It takes more than one. It takes all of us. It also means that those that love will be hurt – not once but many times. Over and over. Love is sacrificial.
At the end of the day, Christ is perfect love. God is perfect love. If we want to change the world, we need to love radically as we’ve been loved by God.
Can you give up enough of yourself to really love?
