Proverbs 12:18 (NLT)
18 Some people make cutting remarks,
but the words of the wise bring healing.
Ain’t that the truth. So, why do we have so many cutting remarks and so little healing going on? Have we lost the ability to listen to wisdom or have we abandoned wisdom? Or is wisdom just shouted down, a victim of the heckler’s veto, the cutting remarks?
It’s sad that we’ve come to this place and there are a lot of wise people out there shaking their heads. At this point, it’s risky to disagree. That’s a dangerous place for all of us.
Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
There is hope and it’s through his mighty power at work within us. Let’s see – the diatribe of the left (and the tiny far right) or the words of Christ. The hopeless future of the secular world or the promise of better times here on earth and unimaginably perfect time for eternity. Imagine.
1 Thessalonians 3:12 (NLT)
12 And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.
Make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow – this is as it should be, not a heckler’s veto, not having a free speech event canceled due to violence. We’re in a dangerous place again, today, and there’s only one way out. Reading the words God has given us, it’s not like this is a new place we’re in. We need to learn from our past and gain the wisdom we’ve been given.
It’s time to listen to wisdom.
