Genesis 1:1-2 (NLT)
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
I wonder what it was like when the world was created. What it was like before there was life as we call it, as we know it. He created the heavens and the earth, He created the universe and all the galaxies in them. That’s just kind of amazing. Scientifically accurate too – the big bang, right? Poof, out of nothing, everything. Only God can do that.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (MSG)
14-17 But don’t let it faze you. Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers—why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother’s milk! There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.
So, we evolve. We grow. We change. Animals come and go. Humanoids come and go. It’s all a part of the plan. We’re given direction on how to live, how to live with those we know, how to live with those we don’t know. Throughout history we know the way and lose it. We blow off listening to the Creator of the universe.
Isaiah 42:9 (NLT)
9 “Everything I prophesied has come true, and now I will prophesy again. I will tell you the future before it happens.”
Then Christ shows up. The world pivots. A new order is given to set us right once and for all. And we turn away again. And again. And again.
Proverbs 4:20-22 (NLT)
20 My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. 21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.
We are shown the way. In the beginning everything was perfect until Adam screwed everything up by not following God’s word. Eve played a part too. We were off to the races. I don’t know how everything played out, only that like when the earth and universe were created it happened. As rational people know, it wasn’t by chance.
We have the words to guide us to a better place, yet we give them a small place in our lives compared to what they should be. They don’t carry the weight in our lives that they should. Imagine if the Creator of all the universe told us how to live – would you listen? Ummm, He has.
Romans 6:6-7 (NLT)
6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.
Yet, we sin still. Must be missing something in the message Christ gave us. Or, maybe sin is so powerful we find it to difficult to pull away and leave it behind. I’m not sure. We still choose to listen to ourselves and not to Christ who is the Creator (that Trinity thing that is too much for our little brains to fully wrap around).
If you stand up to the world and follow how the Creator of all the universe told us to live you will be mocked and ridiculed, probably at some point persecuted, often to the point of martyrdom (most everywhere in the world but the West). That’s the way of the world.
1 Peter 3:14 (NLT)
14 But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats.
It shows how far we’ve come, how far we’ve advanced, when we have the words of the Creator to live by and choose not to, choose to think we know a better way.
Imagine if the Creator of all the universe told us how to live – would you listen?
Great question. May I listen to the creator.
Be blessed. God is God and in control.
