Matthew 28:19 (NLT)
19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all peoples, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We’re called. It’s that simple. Share the gospel and make disciples of all peoples. That means we are to be disciples as well, not prissy pew warmers wringing our hands about the state of things, but out in the untamed wild of the world, making disciples. Helloooooo – I wonder how far Christ would have gotten if he stayed in the Synagog on Saturdays and just listened to great messages.
1 John 5:21 (NLT)
21 Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
What keeps us from going out and making disciples? Fear? Lack of confidence? Lack of time? Lack of giving a hoot? Really, what keeps us from living the life, of being the light, of giving in a way that draws people to Christ because of what he has done in our lives, of living like we really understand and honor the price he paid for our salvation?
Ephesians 5:15-17 (NLT)
15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
2 Timothy 4:7 (NLT)
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.
At the end of the day, at the end of the days, we’ll want to be able to say “I fought for what Jesus fought for and I finished well”. Fight, finish.
