Romans 12:9-10 (NLT)
9 Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love and delight in honoring each other. It’s kind of contrary to the ways of the world now, isn’t it?
Hate what is wrong. Wrong is denying there’s a God. Wrong is hurting someone. Wrong is thinking you’re the Queen bee and everyone else is a worker bee. Wrong is thinking the world is here to be used for your personal gain. Wrong is to pee in other peoples Wheaties. Wrong is to call the unborn a simple piece of flesh. Wrong is to hate. We’re to hate these things (yes, God can be difficult to understand until you spend some time in study).
Hold tightly to what is good. God is good even when we don’t understand the why of the what. I doubt that ore understands being ripped from the ground, subjected to extreme heat, pounding, rolling, shaping and use and we’re not much better. Yet, God is good and it shows in the many blessings we have. Good is service to others. Good is to love and embrace those you disagree with. We’re all God’s creations. Take delight in honoring each other. Imagine the impact if we all did that.
And the model for all of this?
Matthew 26:26-30 (NLT)
26 As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.”
27 And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, 28 for this is my blood, which confirms the [new] covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many. 29 Mark my words—I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father’s Kingdom.”
30 Then they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.
While I wouldn’t mind going to be with Christ, there’s so much to do here.
