Romans 6:22-23 NLT
22 But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
I read an opinion article the other day that got me thinking. The opinion quickly gets to “They include the way power has been concentrated in the economy and government; the way globalization and immigration have affected our economy and society; the way the political system has been completely corrupted; the way families and communities and the social fabric have been ripped apart with nothing but arid techno-commercialism to take their place, and the way the top 20 percent or so who have benefited from all this have become completely detached from and show no empathy for the majority of working Americans.”
Legacy Reentry Foundation, Waukegan, IL. The ROPE House, also in Waukegan. You’ve probably never heard of them. They focus on helping people coming out of the penal system because the system sure won’t. Even then, they are underfunded, understaffed, and under resourced.
What’s a sin?
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’”
We,as a society that transcends borders a nationalities, are for the most part sinners. Elites in the richest to poorest countries all act the same. Elitism has a very low threshold.
A change of heart is needed, not more government incompetence and malfeasance.
Christ’s words ring as true today as they did when they were spoken.
It’s time for a change of heart driven by obedience to His plan.
