15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. To this we are witnesses. 16 And in his name – by faith in his name – has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.
Start this in v 2, (Acts 3:2) another story in the bible about someone lame since birth being healed. Think about this for a second – what if we’re lame since birth (like born with sin in our lives)? What if the verses point to us?
We did kill Christ with our sin. If there was no sin in the world, if we had no sin in our lives, He wouldn’t have had to do what He did to offer us a chance to be saved.
“…and the faith that is through Jesus had given this man perfect health in the presence of you all.” Faith in Christ heals, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, always powerfully.
V14 says “But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer be granted to you”. Don’t we do the same today by chasing after the things of the world, by serving our selves and keeping Christ at a far distance? The world destroys our soul; it takes us away from the love of Christ.
Give thanks today for His love for us. Give thanks for His healing power that waits for us to accept it. The lame man had been living on the handouts he got begging in front of the temple. One day, he got a hand up instead and could begin to experience freedom and life. Faith heals the broken.
Lord, thank you for modeling how we should love, how we should live. Thank you for the blessings you give us. Thank you for the country you inspired. May we return the blessing to someone less fortunate than us.
