Galatians 6:9

I am a Christian, expect me to act like one. Always.

Galatians 6:9
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

What is doing good? What is good? Can you think of anything that eminates from God that isn’t good? Can you think of anything that eminates God that is bad (consequences aren’t bad, they just are)? Is it safe to say that anything that God would have us do is good? I think so.

So, we are to do things that God would have us do – tirelessly, unceasingly,  and as He would do it, from a place of love. Do good to others in love, with gratitude and and honor to our Lord and Savior.

How are we to do good? How are we to serve this good up? What does it look like? It’s anything that carries the work of our Lord forward, even in the smallest way like opening a door, acknowledging the clerk who just bagged your stuff, saying hello to someone instead of avoiding contact, etc. We should have “I am a Christian, expect me to act like one” hovering over our head with an arrow pointing to us, flashing LED’s, ice cream truck music blasting -everyone runs to the ice cream truck when they hear that music, right? The point is, our life should be like that without the sign. It should just shows up everywhere, in everything, in every situation, and it should have the same effect as the ice cream truck music. We serve up God’s love constantly, continually, unceasingly, in humble submission to our Lord and Savior, not in haughty, self righteous, sanctimonious piousness the western church is famous for.

Why do we do this? Because Christ did it for us and He calls us to do it for Him. Why? Because it’s who He is and who He wants us to be. He calls us to be self sacrificial, to be used up by him here on earth “so at the proper time we will reap the harvest….”

We reap what we sow. Sow in the love of Christ, the same love he shows us, in the same intensity, in the same non-judgmental way. That’s how. Do everything in love.

I’ve come to realize that this isn’t a battle between good and evil, it’s a war. A full blown war which will have casualties. If I fight with love, the casualties I cause will be Satan losing souls. I am a soldier for Jesus, Satan get behind me, you’re dead already. I have some lovin’ to do in this fight. I’m gonna win some souls to Jesus, our Lord and Savior. How about you?

What a glorious day for a battle.
