Philippians 3:10-11

What we do for real…

Philippians 3:10-11
“I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection of the dead.”

Wow, what a bold statement. “I want to know Christ”. Right there, in your face, no doubt about it. “I want to know Christ”.

I want to know Christ too. Yes, I do, and the power of his resurrection, his defeat of sin and death. I want to be out there so far for him that I participate in his sufferings. I want to know Christ like that. I want to become like Christ.

What’s important in your life? Are you willing to be a target for the world because of your love for Christ? Does your walk take you into dangerous territory? Are you bold in your pursuit of Christ likeness that you draw Satan’s attention? How far are you willing to go to be like Christ? What are you willing to sacrafice to be more like Him? For Him?

Paul, who had a Vulcan mind meld with Jesus, was. Imagine what Paul must have seen on there road to Damascus when Christ converted him. Imagine being picked by God to bear the message, to show the way for all of us. He saw and sold out for Christ, the grace, forgiveness of sin, the resurrection overcoming death, and the promises to us.

The promises He made to us. The path He made for us. The things we have to do to get there.

Is that your life?

Lord, let me be so on fire for you, so focused on getting to know you that I “know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection of the dead.”

Somehow isn’t a mystery, it’s obedience. Live strong in Christ, be bold for Christ, pursue Him relentlessly. Sieze the promises.
