Isaiah 26:8 – An unnatural condition

Isaiah 26:8
“Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.”

These things are true:  Isaiah 26:1 “…God make salvation its walls and ramparts” v3 “You will keep in perfect peace those whose mind are steadfast, because they trust in you.” v4 ” …the Lord himself is the Rock eternal.” v5 “He humbles those who dwell on high….” v6 “Feet trample it down – the feet of the oppressed, the footsteps of the poor.” v7 “…you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.” Powerful promises. This is what is ours when we walk in the ways of the Lord, when we wait for him, when we have Him as the desire of our heart.

It’s an unnatural condition though. It calls for our life to have God at the center, the center of our universe, not us, and to embrace him for who and what He is.

The promises are like a drum beat, they don’t change, they don’t vary, they don’t shape shift.

Yes Lord, walking in the way of your laws we wait for you. But we walk. We move in His laws, we move as He pushes us, we move as He directs us, we move to glorify Him as He uses us.

v9 “My soul longs for you… My spirit longs for you….”
