Ephesians 1:7-10
“7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.”
Promises, promises, all I get are promises. To be put into effect when? When the times reach their fulfilment. Crad, when will that happen? Why do we all feel that our generation is the one when it’ll happen? Throughout history it’s been like that.
Some times quickly, sometimes slowly.
That’s how it works. Gods time is not our time. His ways are not our ways.
What we do know is that now, right now, if you want it, we have redemption through His love, through His sacrifice, forgiveness of our sins. Forgiveness by our perfect father who demands perfection. Promise fulfilled.
The richness of His grace floods over us, in all of His wisdom and insight. Grace from perfect and complete knowledge, a blessing to us of incalculable richness. The knowledge of His will for us is set forth to us in Christ, his purpose explained, the plan of unification, love and peace exposed. Promise fulfilled.
Want to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Yeah, me too. We want the truth but we can’t handle the truth. Yet. When will we? Don’t know.
What we do know is that it’ll happen in the fullness of time, and while we caused the separation, God will heal it. We’ll all be united under Him, under Christ, forever.
Promises, promises, yes, and backed by God. I’ll wait, trust, and obey as best I can, passionately pursuing knowledge of what He wants, striving to lay straight the path for Him.
How about you? What promises matter in your life?
