Matthew 6:24-34
“24 ‘No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. 25 ‘Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?’”
Luke 12:24
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Is life more than food and clothing? Is life more than the physical? If yes, what does that look like? Go figure, Christ weighs in on this. Who is this guy?
Are you anxious? Worried about food? Clothes? Probably yes, yes, yes when it comes to having the “right” ones, probably no, no, no when it comes to having enough. Soooo, who becomes your master when you worry about looks (and things) and what to eat?
Your god is where you put your efforts. Are you loving on others like you are loving on yourself? Where are your treasures? Where is your heart? Who is your master? What is number one on your priority list? Why?
Who is this guy telling us to not be anxious? He’s either a nut job or knows way, way, way more than we do. I’m believing that it’s “he” is really “He”, and He knows much more than we do – this guy knows his stuff. Like He made it. Like He knows how it ends. Like He’s trying to get us to understand. There’s so much more to it than just not worrying, it’s faith in the other side of the coin, there’s living this life for the next.
Thank you Jesus.
I want to know this guy.
