John 15:1-3 (NIV)
The Vine and the Branches
15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.”
James 4:11-12 (MSG)
11-12 Don’t bad-mouth each other, friends. It’s God’s Word, his Message, his Royal Rule, that takes a beating in that kind of talk. You’re supposed to be honoring the Message, not writing graffiti all over it. God is in charge of deciding human destiny. Who do you think you are to meddle in the destiny of others?
How simple it would be if we would just get along with a single minded focus to carry out God’s message while we live in the law. Yet, we don’t, we aren’t.
Don’t bad-mouth each other. It’s God’s Word, his Message, his Royal Rule…. Let that rattle around inside your head a bit. I’m guilty of it, and not just a little guilty. I not only resemble that remark, I am that remark.
We are God’s children. We have The Way that’s been given to us. Who are we to worry about what others are/do before we worry about ourselves? Are we carrying the Law and The Word into everything we do? Does it drive us? Are we living a proper life according to His rules? Are we caring for the hungry or thirsty or a stranger or those needing clothes or sick or in prison? Is that your/my/our single minded focus for the day? Is it our reason for being?
If the answer is no, we got nothin’ to say. Given who we are, we should never have anything to say. Just do it.
Honor and glorify Him in what you do, in all you do.
