Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Mark 11:24 (NIV)
24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
God will be with us wherever we go and that He’ll give us whatever we pray for. The answer is yes, absolutely if….
If… we are looking for God to move our world, we move with Him first. If we are wanting God to be with us, we have to be with Him first. He’s not our co-pilot, He’s our pilot, and that has some serious side effects – all good if you’re on the right plane. He is with us as long as we are following Him – that’s following, not leading.
Criminy – He’s God and we’re not. That should be enough explanation, though I’m afraid for many it’s not.
Word of Faith or Prosperity gospel would like to promise us that we’re really little gods, that the bible is a contract that forces God to do what we want Him to do if only we have enough faith, that we tithe enough, that we do the right things. Actions force God’s hand. No, that’s not it. That’s a lie.
This whole idea of faith isn’t about God doing for us to enrich us, it’s about the power God brings to bear when we align with Him and do the things He calls us to do, to allow Him to use us to do His work, to act like He calls us to – to pursue justice, to have mercy, to walk humbly with Him, acting out of love for others all the time.
We can move mountains with Him and throw them into the depths of the oceans. Mountains of guilt. Mountains of rage. Mountains of resentment. Mountains of wounds. Mountains of sin. Mountains of regret. Mountains of hate. Mountains of everything God isn’t about will be moved from our souls, our hearts, our minds and through that, from our homes, our communities, our regions, our counties, our world.
The miracle is the healing power of God. Have faith and pray.
