Luke 10:20 (ESV)
20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Romans 6:21 (ESV)
21 But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
2 Peter 3:8-9The Message (MSG)
8-9 Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day. God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.
Time. Don’t waste it. Be present. Plan for the future. Live for the now. Lot’s of ways to approach it. What’s yours?
I love the concept that God isn’t limited by linear time. For us, every second is here then gone. We live in linear time and there’s nothing we can do about it. God, however, lives in the past, present and future all at the same time. That’s why His time, His years, aren’t like ours, why one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day.
Christ has given us power to do great things in His name – to be present always with Him and allow Him to do His work through you. How are you spending your time? What of the times you haven’t been with Him? What were you getting from those times? How much do we carry with us?
Rejoice because our names are written in the Book of Life. Make our seconds about being with Him, to have Him guide you, perform miracles through you – little ones, maybe big ones – whatever He wants through you.
A difference to be made for a thousand years. Or a day. He’s giving us time to change, tie to come home. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost, He’s giving us time to make it so.
