31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 10:25-30(ESV)
25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name bear witness about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

1 John 4:7(ESV)
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.

And the truth will set you free – from what? How about free from hate, worry, doubt, unfaithfulness, impatience, meanness, harshness, and a lack of self-control?

I’m sure there’s a lot of the above going on right now. “Not my president”, the elite calling the majority of the landmass idiots, etc. Boy, that’s some bridge building through tolerance. I’m just sayin’….

At the end of the day though, it doesn’t matter who is in power if we do what we’re called to do.

Love doesn’t come from humans, it comes from God and we practice a dumbed down version of it here on earth that is convenient for us, or when we can’t overcome the bonds that God creates (like between a child and parent, like a relationship built like God calls us to, not how we do it). There’s love and then there’s LOVE, and even LOVE can’t come close to God’s love.

So, the election is over, the snappy, happy advertisements will forever live in some obscure corner of YouTube (I hope), and there’s lots of hand wringing and anger today from the elites. Guess what?

SO WHAT? IT DOESN’T MATTER if:
We love like God loves us
We move forward like God calls us to
We serve the under-resourced like we’re called to
We live intentionally to serve, not be served
We are builders, not takers. We are contributors, not consumers.

Set free from what? Set free from thinking that this world is the most important thing in our lives. It’s not. The most important thing in this life is what we do to get to the next one.

What happens to us here doesn’t matter. What we do here does. Live free. Live Christ.
