We all have faith in something Hebrews 11:3, 6 Luke 21:1-4

Hebrews 11:3 (NIV)
3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

At the end of all the arguments, we all have faith. It’s impossible not to for this simple reason. As we move higher and higher in pointing to things/facts as the truth, as the reason for believing, at some point we get to the top. Once we get to the top, we have to have faith that whatever that is it is true because we can’t point to it as proof that it’s true. Since we can’t point to something as it’s own proof that it’s true, we have to have faith that it is. We all have faith in something.

I have faith that science is true and eventually we’ll figure everything out. What’s everything? Everything – like we’ll cure cancer, have clean energy, eliminate addictions/poverty/illness, etc. That’s not in conflict with believing in God. Science tells us that nothing can be created out of absolute nothingness. Makes sense – there’s nothing there, so what’s going to come out of nothing? Even the bible says there was nothing – “so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Yet, BANG!!!! Ta-da!!! We have a universe or a few trillion.

Call it what you want, believe what you want, at the end of the day, we all have faith.

Hebrews 6 (NIV)
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Luke 21:1-4 (NIV)
1 As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

We all have faith in something. Place it where you may, yet recognize you have it. Are you really that confident in what you have as your foundation? Have some doubts? Go to the source – trust God, trust Christ, trust the Holy Spirit and lay your faith on an unshakable foundation. God was, is, and always will be, even when the rest fades away.

That’s something to have faith in.
