Proverbs 21:21 (NIV)
Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
Matthew 7:12 (NLT)
12 “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.
Life, prosperity and honor. Pretty cool. What kind of prosperity? Might be financial, might not be. It’ll certainly be something you can sink you teeth into though. Life changing. Through righteousness and love. Righteousness and love. There’s no self in there, it’s all outward facing and sacrificial.
Do unto others. For social justice, for your home, for your work, for everywhere, this is the answer. If you were hungry and homeless, what would you be looking for? Old, broke and without medicine? Getting your meals out of a garbage dump, or even a dumpster? What would you want people to do for you? Do unto others. It’s that simple; it’s that hard. How many chances will you have today? How many will you pass by?
Righteousness, love, do unto others. That’s the essence of life, the core of a well lived life (in God’s eyes, not ours though). Can we get everyone aboard?
