John 14:2-3
2. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Have you ever stopped to wonder why he had many rooms for us? Heck, given that God can’t grade on a curve (because he’s perfect), why is there a room at all? The only thing I can think of is that he wants us there. He’s already done all he could to get us there (think sacrificing his son, Christ). Not much more he can do and still allow us to have free will.
I think we all recoil when we read of God making Abraham sacrifice his son – how could/why would a loving God do that? Yet, he did that for us. He hasn’t made us do it, he’s done it for us.
Why God wants us I don’t know. I do know that there’s a room for us if we want it.
