Luke 12:6-7 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Mark 13:5-6 (ESV) And Jesus began to say to them, “See that no one leads you astray. 6 Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray.
Everyone and everything is numbered and known by God. Everyone – no one isn’t. No one. That’s amazing and quite comforting. Or quite discomforting. He knows all and everything all the time.
Many come in his name. Some make big splashes and the news, some are just us thinking we are our God. All of them/us don’t have what it takes to be God.
Proverbs 15:22 22. Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
It pays to get good advice from many different viewpoints. It brings clarity, points out the weaknesses in our thinking. It helps us get to a better plan. Surrounding ourselves with like minded people all the time leads to a dullness and sterileness of thought – isolation of the mind.
He knows us intimately, He cares for us and doesn’t want us fooled. He wants to challenge us to do the right thing. He wants us to plan well.
He wants us to know that he has our back while we are in the world so that we don’t become part of the world. He wants us on the path that leads to home.
