Proverbs 23:22 (ESV)
22. Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.
Listen to your father who gave you life. Maybe your earthly father is worth loving and listening to. Maybe he’s the POC that never should have allowed to procreate or raise a family. I’ve seen the effects of both. There’s one father who always raises his children right – our heavenly father. Learn from Him so that you are the best child you can possibly be regardless of who your earthly father is.
And this is what He says:
Ephesians 4:29-32New Living Translation (NLT)
29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
31 and 32 have a poignant message for us in the aftermath of repeated coast to coast violence bred by the hatred of anything that’s not what right by them. Both sides of the battle are guilty. Seattle riots were about what? Berkeley? Austin? Charlottesville?
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Reality calls us to recognize where we have arrived at. It’s time to reclaim sanity and the most sane person out there is Christ. Listen to your father.
