This I’ve learned the hard way Romans 1:16-17

Romans 1:16-17 (NIV)
16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith,as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Proverbs 3:3-4
3. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.

In spite of everything I’ve done that I am ashamed of, one thing I’m not ashamed of is is the gospel and the good (no, great, incredible, amazing, awesome) news of Jesus Christ. This I’ve learned the hard way. I have faith that it’s true because when you get away from religious hangups and read what Christ teaches, it changes everything. I live by faith that the gospel is true and that changes everything. Even in dark doubt, the light of faith that He is who He says he is shine bright.

Colossians 4:5-6 (ESV)
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Wisdom. Seems wisdom comes from experiencing what we should have done. Wisdom is also something that we can learn about what we should do – a reflective position of walking the walk, vs. talking about walking the walk. It’s the hard work of doing. It’s also framed around results. We tend to learn things and gain wisdom around things that get us what we want.

2 Thessalonians 3:5 (NIV)
5. May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:9 (ESV)
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”

A promise like this is something that no man can make, no earthly thing can compare.

Acts 10:34-35 (NLT)
34 Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. 35 In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.

The gospel is amazing, so full of hope, peace, love, wisdom, life. The earthly world offers nothing that can compare. Hope, peace, love, wisdom. Beauty beyond compare, a light chasing darkness in the world.

This I’ve learned the hard way.
