Peace be with you Proverbs 18:10

Proverbs 18:10 (ESV)
10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

Who isn’t looking for shelter in the storm? I know I am. Family members dying and the grieving process, not working for extended periods of time, looking to move out of Illinois, and on and on. What an uncomfortable, stressful mess. Yeah, so what? That’s life.

Yet, there’s great peace in faith – that while it might look like a [poop] show from my eyes, it’s not. These are really good problems to have too – when compared to the rest of the world. And that too doesn’t matter in light of eternity.

God has his plans for us and need to follow those. We can chose not to, of course, and deal with the consequences at some point. We can chose to seek and follow them, to live in the safety of the strong tower. No, it’s not smooth, but it’s safe. No, it’s upsetting and difficult, but it’s safe in the end.

“A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are made for.” John Shedd

We have a place of safe refuge, the full armor of God, to tackle life with gusto and confidence that no matter what happens to us here, it doesn’t matter in light of eternity. That makes all the difference.

Peace be with you today in the shelter of a strong tower.
