Iron, alive Hebrews 4:12

Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)
12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Acts 13:47 (NLT)
47 “For the Lord gave us this command when he said,
‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles,
to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’”

As I get older, my scars slow me down a bit and remind me of the decisions and attendant consequences that are my life. It hasn’t been easy getting here and I’m blessed with knowing the difference between how to do it “right” and how to do it “wrong” and really _____ it up.

What I find amazing is how alive the word really is. I couldn’t imagine that anyone could know me so intimately, yet I’ve never met God face to face. Through His words though, through His words, he teaches me. Through the Holy Spirit, He guides me and teaches me if I’m willing. Through fellow believers I’m guided, comforted, and corrected.

Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

The word are strong like iron, or modern day steel, hard and strong, able to be many things. They cut between soul and spirit. They bring truth to our being that maybe we don’t want to see. They shine light on our life. Iron, alive.

Proverbs 3:11-12 (NLT)
11 My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline,
and don’t be upset when he corrects you.
12 For the Lord corrects those he loves,
just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.

There are two ways to live. One is to live in God’s word. Impossible to get it right, and every step closer is another step in the right direction, striving for perfection that we’ll never obtain here on earth, but striving still. The other is to ignore God’s word and live in the world’s words. That’s easy. That’s shallow, hollow and empty too.

Isaiah 49:6 (NLT)
6 He says, “You will do more than restore the people of Israel to me.
I will make you a light to the Gentiles,
and you will bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.”

Iron, alive, will cut you up and make you whole.
