Galatians 1:10 (NLT)
10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.
Obviously. Obviously being a Jesus freak is kind of counter cultural. Obviously, not being people pleasing is too. Look at the purpose of political correctness who’s main goal is to not offend anyone (except of course those that don’t agree with the hypocrisy, reasoning, and motivation behind their game) and you see the results of being people pleasing.
Now, if we’re so good in our native state, why is this an issue? Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with anything that Christ has taught us? I’m not talking about religion, I’m talking about Christ. Certainly there are boundaries that He places on us in the form of morals. These are all done out of love, but we think we know better, and they are called hateful, restrictive. Maybe we do know better in the world of everyone gets a blue ribbon and moral relativism. If we’re soooo good without His help, why do we fight what he’s taught us? If everything is done out of love, why do we have an issue? Yet, issues we have.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Obviously, stating that there are boundaries that we must love by is going to elicit some negative responses, just like trying to get a little brat to behave. That little brat didn’t get that way overnight, but got that way over a period of time. As a parent, I know it was a period of time without boundaries and always getting what they wanted. It is what it is, and it’s obvious if you are honest enough to draw parallels to the above mentioned haters of Christ. Say what you will, I’m thankful I’ve lived both sides and now seek God’s will for me. Try God as a pilot, not a co-pilot for a while and see what happens.
Obviously, there’s a better way.
John 10:28-30 (NLT)
28 “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I are one.”
