Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons (nor rulers), neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Now that’s peaceful. That’s security. That’s assurance. That’s comforting. That is the power of God’s love. So deep, so pure, so perfect that we fail to comprehend its depth, its purity, and its perfection. That doesn’t stop God though. Nothing can separate us from God’s love but ourselves. Nothing can separate us.
1 John 4:16 (NLT)
16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
Living in love. That’s not living in hate.
Martin Luther King wrote: “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend. We never get rid of an enemy by meeting hate with hate. We get rid of an enemy by getting rid of enmity. By its very nature, hate destroys and tears down; love creates and builds up. Love transforms with redemptive power.”
Notice the words enemy, enmity, hate, destroy, lear down. They do describe today’s world in many ways. Enmity, destroy, tear down. Shows up in all of those who are trying to chase Christ out of our lives and remove Him from our moral foundation. It says so much about the passion of the ignorant and their willingness to resort to tyranny. Hate, destroy and tear down anything that you don’t agree with or understand, and call it tolerance of only the acceptable. Yet, it’s not love. It’s hate and hate is evil. Hate is the enemy. Hate is overcome with the redemptive power of love, with open discussion, with listening.
Galatians 6:2 (NLT)
2 Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.
Nothing can separate us from the redemptive power of God’s love except us. It’s time to love our enemies, to show them the true power of God’s love by engaging our enemies, engaging the world. Stand up and transform and enemy into a friend.
Now that’s a world full of peace. That’s peaceful.
