Proverbs 28:10 (NLT)
10 Those who lead good people along an evil path will fall into their own trap,
but the honest will inherit good things.
Matthew 12:36 (NLT)
36 “And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak”.
Have you ever led anyone? We all have. It starts with a “come on, you can do it”…. Or, it’s raising children. Or it’s leading a company, or part of a company. It can also be much more. At times we are all leaders. The question is what kind of leaders are we? What motivates us to lead? To what are we leading to? What’s the endgame for us to be leading?
We can lead others to do things we don’t want to, or lead them to do something we know we shouldn’t be doing but want to know what it’ll end up like, or lead them to do things that enrich us, etc. This type of leading is about us getting what we want, cost to the other person/people be damned. It’s very self centered.
Or, we can lead others to Christ, who he is, what he is about, where he is leading us. Do you care to inherit the good things or not? Do you want to invest in things that will never rust, will never decay, and are perfect from the get-go, never to change for eternity?
No, I don’t know how God, Christ and the Holy Spirit work, I just know that they do. I know they lead from perfect love, from perfect justice. I know that the endgame is to lead us to the pinnacle of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. It’s very other centered.
1 Corinthians 15:1 (NLT)
15 Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it.
I want to be led to the opportunity and reality of a better place, a better life, a better world. I will do all I can to lead others in the same direction.
Where do you lead?
