Being strong and courageous… 1 Chronicles 16:11

1 Chronicles 16:11 (NLT)
11 Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him.

I seem to get stuck on searching for his strength. I seek the Lord, continually seek him, yet count on my own strength. Lately, I’m beginning to learn how to seek him and his strength. It’s not surprising considering we have the armor he offers.

Joshua 1:9 (NLT)
9 “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

I wonder how Joshua felt, if he felt like I feel.

God’s command – be strong and courageous, even if you’re wholly ill-equipped for the task he has for you. How strong is God? Duh.

Ephesians 6:13-16 New Living Translation (NLT)
13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the readiness to preach the Good News of peace with God. 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the evil one.

The armor. Now, how hard can this be? Really? Freaking hard. Freaking hard to trust God enough to be strong and courageous when the world is beating on your head, around your home, to those you love.

Yet, we have a full suit of armor to wear to resist the ways of the world. We have the peace with God.

Proverbs 15:16 (NLT)
16 Better to have little, with fear for the Lord, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil.

Search for God and his strength to be strong and courageous.
