On the last day we will see. 1 Sameul 2:2

1 Samuel 2:2 (NLT)
2 No one is holy like the Lord! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.

Psalm 23:5 (NLT)
5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.

God. The rock of all ages. Steady, consistent, loving. The ultimate parent. He showed his love, he honored us with the opportunity for eternal life when he sacrificed his Son for us. I find it hard to understand why he’d honor us, why he’d bless us in this way given our natural instincts to think and act in ways that are anything but Godly.

In light of how far away we are from God in love and action, his love and actions for us stand immeasurable in their significance. Any grace and mercy we might proffer pale in comparison as a pebble to the mountain. We are forgiven by the perfect God, and that forgiveness is as perfect as his love and his justice.

1 Peter 1:3-5 (NLT)
3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, 4 and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 5 And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.

I commented on an atheists post the other day. The response was basically there is no God and love is a human attribute, fully ours. I shake my head and don’t understand how someone can be so shallow as to think like that. It doesn’t take many “5 why” questions to get to the “I don’t know” point on how we came to be. Yet, we have the history – His story – before us to learn the truth from. Yet, the world attempts to minimize its importance, its infallible beauty, knowledge, wisdom, and truth; the world attempts to minimize God and maximize itself.

All of this debate will come to an end. The mercy, the inheritance, the treasures of heaven – real or not? On the last day we will see.

I would rather live
