Romans 6:16 (NLT)
16 Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
We don’t want to consider ourselves slaves, but it’s true. When whatever it is you choose to obey becomes the driving force, that force is disruptive, and that disruption can be good or bad. God is love, pure and simple. God is justice. God is perfection. God is sacrificial. God is different than us. God has a plan for our good. We are driven – we just want to get our rocks off and be left alone.
Proverbs 24:14 (NLT)
14 In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short.
We choose God not because of what he offers us – eternity, but because of who he is and the life he calls us to live. I’ve said it in many blogs, and I’ll say it again, and I’ll say it again later I’m sure: If we lived the life Christ calls us to live, we wouldn’t have the problems of the world we have today. It’s that simple.
Matthew 25:40 (NLT)
40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”
Numbers 6:24-25 (NLT)
24 ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. 25 May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.
Philippians 4:4 (NLT)
4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
You can be a slave to wants, or your can be a slave to freedom in Christ.
Love it. Great insight. “you can be a slave to freedom in Christ.” I am a slave and I get to choose who I serve.
Be blessed. God is with you.
