Set free but staying put Psalm 23:5

Psalm 23:5 (NLT)
5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.

John 8:31-36 (NLT)
31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
33 “But we are descendants of Abraham,” they said. “We have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean, ‘You will be set free’?”
34 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. 35 A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”

Or, we could be truly free if we weren’t slaves to sin. We’ve been set free but remain slaves. I am not clear on how to break free of the chains of sin – I’m not that pure and I must enjoy it more than I’m willing to admit. We are slaves to sin while we’re here though. It’s why God isn’t first.

The son sets us free if we choose to be set free. I’ve been set free and choose to stay put. Hmmm.

John 3:16 (NLT)
16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

Proverbs 17:9 (NLT)
9 Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.
