Laundromat. John 28-30

John 10:28-30 (NLT)
28 “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for what my Father has given me is more powerful than anything. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I are one.”

Romans 8:28 (NLT)
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Philippians 3:13-14 (ESV)
13. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Sitting in a laundromat washing some bedding that is to large for our home wash machine… because one of the dogs had an accident… and they are big dogs. Bummer.

Backstory is that our dogs sleep with us. Beside catching squirrels, their favorite thing is to play/snuggle before going to sleep. We like having them with us and seeing their happiness.

So what does this have to do with scripture? God calls us to His home and we are constantly messing with His bedding, abusing His home, His purpose for inviting us in the first place.

There are other things I’d like to be doing this morning besides sitting on a hard bench at a laundromat. I’m sure God would like it if we didn’t create messes He had to clean up.

Tonight the dogs will play and snuggle before we go to sleep.

We have eternal life, the ultimate gift of life from God. We’re always welcome in His home no matter what we’ve done. We can’t undo the past, but we can accept His forgiveness and humbly move forward in our brokenness.

Job 6:14 (NIV)
14 “Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty.”
