Good Friday? No. Incomprehensibly Blessed Friday? Yes. Isaiah 53:5

Isaiah 53:5 (NLT)
5 But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.

So this is Easter. Bunny, candy, the bi annual schlepping to church for many. Celebrating the ultimate show of love. Beaten so we could be whole. Whipped so we could be healed. And we treat it with such callous disregard.

One thing I’ve learned through the losses I’ve had, the pain I’ve caused in others people lives, is the depth of pain pain causes. What Christ did today was nothing short of completely incomprehensible to us. If it was comprehensible, we’d be on our knees all day today, in mourning until his resurrection, and eternally grateful come Sunday. We’d be humbled and focused on the blessing.

We’d be in reflection. But we aren’t.

Psalm 32:1-2 (NLT)
1 Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!
2 Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!

Let’s pause today to remember what happened that our freedom was purchased.

Romans 8:6 (NLT)
6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

John 1:12 (NLT)
12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NLT)
24 God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.
