” 1 Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Carry each other’s burdens, pick someone up, reach out to those who are oppressed. Surely this is part of God’s plan to destroy the world, right? Surely this is part of His horrible plan to dominate us and make us mindless puppets, right? Don’t think so.
For those who only get to see the consequences of living in this world, and the injustice that is native to the human way of doing things, through the news, happy isolation!
No, God calls us to action, into battle, into reality, to fight the evil that permeates the world with love – His love, as taught by Him through Christ and the Holy Spirit.
Reality can really suck, and it’s always better when someone comes alongside in love and wisdom.
Do this and you will fulfill the law of Christ. Think about that for a second – carry each other’s burdens, pick someone up, reach out to those who are oppressed – that fulfills God’s law. Law. Not wish, not “gee, I sure hope ya do”, but law. We are commanded. Go out into the world, get uncomfortable, and get going.
