Unprecedented discovery 1 Corinthians 15:58

A European Astronomical Observatory is Announcing an ‘Unprecedented Discovery
“IN BRIEF
“According to an announcement from the ESO, scientists working at the observatory have witnessed an astronomical phenomenon that has never been seen before. The details of this discovery will be released next week.”

I wonder why we call it unprecedented. I wonder why we are so amazed that we’re still discovering things God made, is making, will make. Hello, he’s God and we’re not, though many sure think they are. Instead of realizing that there are probably a gazillion things we haven’t even imagined we don’t know, we struggle to close the last few pieces of what we think we don’t know. The arrogance of ignorance.

God will always be bigger than we are. Christ is better than we can ever be. Yet, the world struggles with that. For me, I embrace it. I know the world can be changed for the better if we all embrace Christ. No Christ and _______ (fill in the blank). Just Christ. Walk his way.

1 Corinthians 15:58 (ESV)
58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

1 Peter 3:14-17 (NLT)
14 But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. 15 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. 16 But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ. 17 Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong!

The discovery of the next big thing after the next big thing is pretty cool. It might improve our life through advancing technology again as we improve our understanding of physics. God is unfolding his creation to us as we grow in our knowledge.

Christ too is an unprecedented discovery for many, many people, even many who claim to be Christians. Knowing Christ will improve our life – here on earth and for eternity in a place called heaven (which by the way hasn’t been discovered yet).

John 14:2 (NLT)
2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
