Philippians 2:3 (NLT)
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.
Psalm 97:10 (NLT)
10 You who love the Lord, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked.
Proverbs 3:3-4 (NLT)
3 Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.
4 Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.
God’s way was modeled here on earth by Christ (that would be natural considering that He is God). There are some out there who would say that the behavior He modeled isn’t right, but most of us in the West would say that Christ’s behavior is something we should model. Probably something we should definitely model.
I wonder why we don’t model it like Christ did, why it’s just a good idea, and not a committed way forward. Probably because we’re to busy. Maybe we’re afraid. Maybe we lack confidence in our ability to effect change. Maybe we just don’t know what to do. I know those things get in my way all the time.
Psalm 46:1-3 (NLT)
1 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
2 So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.
3 Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
4 A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High.
5 God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it.
God dwells in our city, we need to seek him. We have a model. We have refuge and strength. We have no reason for our world to be like it is today.
It’s time for God’s way.
